IMG_5020_2LANDac stands for Netherlands Academy on Land Governance and aims to understand Land Governance for Equitable and Sustainable Development.

The LANDac Annual International Conference 2016 took place on 30 June and 1 July in the Muntgebouw in Utrecht. The conference drew over 150 participants from all continents, including academics, students, policy makers, practitioners and private sector representatives.

The Conference was organized by LANDac and its partners and aimed to present state-of-the-art knowledge on how land governance may contribute to equitable and sustainable development, as well as set the agenda for future research and foster new collaborations for research, policy and practice. The Conference coincided with the 6th LANDac Summer School ‘Land Governance for Development’.

The main keynote speaker was Geoffrey Payne, Housing and Urban Development Consultant at Geoffrey Payne & Associates, UK. His speech was followed by three key note pitches from Africa, Latin America and Asia.

João Carrilho, former Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Government of Mozambique and consultant on land spoke about land issues in Africa. Malovika Pawar, a member of the Indian Administrative Service spoke about land issues in India and Roberto Rocco, talked about Latin America and Brazil specifically.
