He will present his on-going research on participatory planning and urban vitality in a context of urban regeneration in Taipei, Taiwan. The seminar will take place in Room 00 West 640 at the Faculty of Architecture of TU Delft.
Participatory planning and urban vitality in the process of urban regeneration: A comparative study of Amsterdam and Taipei
This research examines the relationship between participatory planning and urban vitality. It will employ a particular examination within urban regeneration projects in contexts of the Netherlands and Taiwan. The ultimate goals are 1) To what extent could participatory planning process within urban regeneration projects influence on urban vitality? 2) To what extent could participatory planning be enhanced and facilitate urban vitality in urban regeneration process? It will concentrate on explaining the current process of urban regeneration, examining the results, and evaluating the evidence against criteria of participatory planning. The research will attempt to investigate the relationship between participatory planning and urban vitality and to have a better operational definition; it will go through regeneration projects in different contexts, a case in the Netherlands and another case in Taiwan, by implementing comparative study.
Cinco Hsinko Yu is a PhD candidate at the Chair of Spatial Planning and Strategy, Department of Urbanism, TU Delft.
