Vincent Nadin and Ana Maria Fernandez Maldonado attended an ESPON seminar in Tallinn on 5 -6 December 2017, which gathered more than 200 researcher, policy makers and government officials. The topic was ‘Transforming territorial thinking through digitalisation’, having Estonia as the example of the most advanced digital society in the world, according to Times magazine. The seminar included plenary sessions, panel discussions, policy labs and pitches.
Vincent Nadin presented some initial results of the ESPON-COMPASS project: Comparative Analysis of Territorial Governance and Spatial Planning Systems in Europe, from which Delft University of Technology is the project leader. From the 10 project leaders which presented on 6 December, Vincent’s presentation was elected by the attendants – who voted with the smart phones – as having the most useful recommendations on territorial thinking.
